Refutation of the claim that something in general does not include all particular instances:

  • When one speaks of knives in general, one refers to all knives. When one speaks of the worthwhile in general, one refers to conjunction of what is worthwhile for all persons, as established in defence of premise 2. We cannot exclude what is worthwhile for animals merely because it is convenient to ignore it. On those grounds, humans have disregarded what is worthwhile for so-called "people of colour" and women.
