(refutation of disagreement with 7.)
Refutation of denying that using animals for conventional purposes is unworthwhile for them:
- It is logically erroneous to deny that 7. follows from 5. and 6. The inference relies on the logical rule of inference called modus ponens. If it is granted that avoidable harm is unworthwhile for an individual, and established that conventional uses of animals involve avoidable harms, it follows that it is not worthwhile for animals to be treated that way.
